I’m super excited to let you know about our special guest in the Crimson Coven for May… Lee Harrington! I have been a fan of his work for years now, “Sacred Kink” being my favourite book on the overlap between magic and kinky practices, and Lee has kindly agreed to come and talk about his new book for the Crimson Coven, on Tuesday 2nd May ’23, at 6:30pm BST (UK time).

And you can watch the livestream directly in YouTube even if you’re not a member! Read on for more!

Lee’s latest book came out on 25th April and it sounds like something we could all do with reading…

Become Your Own Beloved: A Guide to Delighting in Self-Connection

By Lee Harrington

LEARN HOW TO EASE THE PAIN OF LONELINESS, HEAL LONGTIME EMOTIONAL WOUNDS, AND CELEBRATE YOURSELF AS A COMPLETE BEING IN THIS INCLUSIVE GUIDE BY AN INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED EDUCATOR.

Whether you’re struggling with isolation, dealing with loss, or want to delve deeper into what makes you “you,” this inclusive guide is brimming with incredible insights and practical exercises to support you. It goes well beyond how to enjoy your own company and shares how to develop a deep and joyful connection to yourself that lasts a lifetime—no matter who you are and what you’ve been through.

In this book, you’ll learn invaluable practices such as how to meet yourself anew, examine labels placed on you, and forgive yourself for any regrets or missteps. And while all the exercises will help you learn to celebrate yourself as a whole being, they also can help you have more fulfilling relationships with others and find support in community.

And in case you’re new here…

The Crimson Coven is our private group for exploring divine love, sacred sexuality, and embodied magic through a pagan lens. Each week there are prompts and a livestream on a related topic, usually including a meditation to support your connection to the divine within and without.

Each month or so I host a guest speaker for a Crimson Chat, and I’m thrilled to have Lee join us to talk about his new book, “Become Your Own Beloved”. This is a topic dear to my heart, and I’m excited to hear about the ways in which Lee has written about self-love, self-care, and self-commitment.

Members of the Crimson Coven and Lee’s Patrons will get access to the zoom room for an interactive experience and a chance to ask questions, check the group for details.

The chat will be livestreamed to YouTube here.

PS: I also run monthly workshops, and regular crimson craft retreats… join my mailing list to hear about upcoming offerings!

And that’s it. This month, on Imbolc eve, I finished my PhD corrections and submitted the final FINAL version. This week I got confirmation that it has been accepted!

I’m officially Dr Halo!

The thesis! Yes, I have a theme… “The power of storytelling to re-enchant the world” fits it quite nicely, don’t you think?

I celebrated with a trip to the bookshop, hot chocolate with friends, dinner for one and a movie… Then cuddles from my fella the following night, of course!

I started by letting my brain decompress and dealing with those bits of life that now need dealing with, like clearing out some old books to make space for the new ones! And contemplating where I go from here… With a foxy companion for Imbolc reminding me that spring is emerging from the dark, just like me. 🥰

If you’re on my mailing list you’ll know that I’ve got a whole bunch of monthly discussion based classes that I’m offering through Patreon, or which you can sign up for individually if you’d rather, starting with an online elements of magic workshop next month, on 16th March at 7pm GMT. (And in April I’ll be kicking off a ten week course working with them too…)

And the Goblin Masquerade is coming together! Last autumn I was chatting with fellow changeling poet Kate Garrett, and somehow got the inspiration to host a goblin market followed by a Masked fairy ball this spring. Everything is coming together and we have music, talks, dancing, and even the steampunk debut of an Ominous Folk of Hopeless Maine show. It’s going to be a lovely day of community and play, and I’m considering it my party for escaping studenthood with a Doctorate at last!

Flier for the Goblin Masquerade in Borth, Ceredigion, Wales, 12th March, from 1pm. Free afternoon market, evening ball £6. Click for more details.

I’ve also been researching ADHD and neurodivergences… There’s so little support for adults with ADHD and we can do amazing things with the right help! So I’m writing occasional thoughts on that over here… On the newsletter “Living with Squirrels” not sure where it’ll go but you’re welcome to sign up if you like.

Living with Squirrels

So I guess I do know where I’m going next… To play with the goblins and re-enchant the world!

PS: If you want to get workshops, extra posts, advance access to material, and more things as and when the goblins inspire me… And support my adventures so I can keep building the academy into something sustainable you can sign up to my Patreon here:

Feri, Iron Pentacle, Love, Magic, Pride, Queer

Next month is Pride month, a time where the LGBTQIA+ community around the world raises the rainbow flag and reminds everyone that we’re here, and we’re not going anywhere.

Most people that know me have seen me in apparently straight relationships, but that’s not the whole story. That’s not even half of it. So here’s a little reminder that even those of us who don’t look queer to you very much can be, and no, we don’t owe anyone an elaboration.

What does this have to do with magic?

As witches and magicians we engage in practices that run counter to the mainstream, and so in our hearts we have to hold firm to who and what we are. We need to know our own nature, desires, drives, and loves so we may move with them and toward our True Wills.

“Know thyself” is only part of the equation: to claim your magic, stand tall in yourself. Be proud of yourself.

Like the Peacock God of Feri, know your own worth, your own value, your own beauty and let your glory make the heaven and earth answer to your Truth.

Pride, in Feri witchcraft, is part of our birthright.

Pride, which is neither arrogance nor false humility, but an honest recognition of our place as part of the world…

“You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.…”

~Desiderata, Max Ehrmann

… And they too have that same right. Knowing that, accepting that both are true, is part of pride.

Many of us are queer, and it can take a little longer to stand strong in a culture where that is considered lesser, but: when we embrace that in ourselves and stand with Pride in our Truth, knowing ourselves to be no more or less important and worthy of thriving than any other being in this wonderful world, we align ourselves with magic.

The last 24 hours have been amazing.

I thank every one of you that has commented, looked and asked me for a copy of my book.

Especially those of you who want to own a copy.

I am, as I say, overwhelmed.

I am overflowing with gratitude. Gratitude for my friends, for the people around me who have and continue to support me, for the people who give me funny looks when I talk about Faeries and love me anyway (or even because of it). Gratitude for the excitement other people are sharing with me over this.

It is a wonderful thing to build bridges of joy, and I can see them growing up with every digital connection we make.

The worlds we build online are as real as those that we walk in, sleep in, love in. The worlds we can touch and feel and hear and see and smell, extend through our bodies, through the wires of the interconnecting-web, through our hearts and our words.

We build worlds of love and joy, we weave the worlds of Fey closer with every choice made in love and in alignment with our hearts.

I have seven people who have ordered one of the 13.

6 remain to find homes.

Email me if you would like to be part of this adventure as it takes to the skies!

And thank you. Thank you all very very much.

Watch here for further posts keeping you updated and sharing the joy!

Creation is like a sun shining from the heart…

Creation is a Sun

The sunlight soothes my skin, scent of a green, green land playing in the air.

A bee bumbles past as I lay lazily, brush in hand, stroking the paper into colours.

Words come, unbidden, as the image emerges and my pen pours ink onto the page, spelling out the words, the spell, to capture the feeling.

How words and images reflect each other, like twins, Dionysian movement, Apolline images, dancing together.

I am reminded of Blake, who I have often strived to follow, inspired by the seamless blend of pigment and print.

Walkers wander past, voices loud against the hush of the slow summer which sneaks into my valley. Traffic in the distance, not so far from here, but still worlds away, does not burst the bubble of my beauty-brushed-blessed-being-of-the-moment.

I am here, bathed in light, warming in the sun, warmed from the sun within which feeds on the fuel that is joy. Joy, like a sun in my heart, shining in the light of the sun in the sky, overflowing through my hands and onto the page.

How can I share this moment with you?

I breathe up, a prayer of delight, of gratitude, of beauty.

I talk of sun and warm and light, of joy overflowing and green green grass… and still I wonder, can you feel it?

Can you feel the heat, the flames like liquid gold, pouring out from my heart into beauty, being fed by beauty, a circle of love for the world?

My heart opens and love pours out.

Serpent coiling round sensous curves
The egg breaks, releases, scales form.
Dancing deva, devil, god
Her wings spread, she flies above.

Toes touching starlight, leaping far.
Round wrist, cross shoulders,
Whispering in her ear.
Spiralling divine, she hears his song.

Coiling in her belly a serpent stirs.
Stretching from her heart, wings soar.
Serpent rises, wings connect,
A dragon with stars for eyes is born…

When love meets desire,
And understanding blossoms,
The most beautiful flower
Begins to grow.

Beauty ~ Magic ~ Delight

Re-enchanting the world, one story, one song, one spell, at a time.
